The plan: There are exactly 14 days between the Gladbach game and Werder’s next match in Freiburg. That gives the team a lot of time to work on things following the 1-3 defeat. Head coach Florian Kohfeldt wants to avoid any knee-jerk decisions and focus on “a good, long week of training” before the next game. Werder won’t be playing a friendly during the international break. There are too few players still in Bremen for it to make sense to organise a friendly to keep them match fit. The Green-Whites will train from Tuesday to Saturday both weeks, until Sunday 25th November, when they face Freiburg (15:30 CET).

Buzzword of the Year: “Osako hanpa nai-tte!” (Osako is unbelievable!) became a very popular phrase in Japan over the summer, due to Yuya Osako’s performances at the World Cup in Russia. The phrase has now been nominated for Buzzword of the Year. The competition has been running every November since 1984 and attracts a lot of attention in Japan. In total, 30 phrases have been nominated. The winner is set to be announced at the beginning of December. Who knows, Yuya Osako’s performances at the World Cup this summer could still earn him a prize yet!

Unstoppable: Werder eSports players “MoAuba” and “MegaBit” qualified for the FUT Champions Cup last weekend. MegaBit got two wins against “XxTheStranger87” in the Best of Three mode on Sunday. He showed real spirit to come from behind in the first round, scoring in the 88th and 90th minutes to win the game 2-1. MoAuba also put in some good performances, qualifying without losing a game. The FUT Champions Cup is held in December and is part of FIFA 19’s Global Series.
