Good in the air: Werder’s best moment against Bayern was undoubtedly Yuya Osako’s header from Max Kruse’s wonderful cross. The Japanese attacker won the aerial duel with Jerome Boateng to get the equaliser. It’s Osako’s second headed goal of the season, and he also scored a headed effort against Villarreal in pre-season. He isn’t the tallest player in the squad, but he’s certainly been showing his aerial prowess so far. Osako now has four goals in all competitions this season.

TV appearance: Johannes and Maximilian Eggestein were guests on “aktuellen Sportstudio” on Saturday evening. The pair spoke about their close relationship, but also revealed some of each other’s secrets. Jojo spoke about him brother’s protective instinct, and how good he is in the kitchen. Maxi, however, joked about how Jojo always wants to be right and is only good for peeling potatoes and carrots when cooking.

All eyes on Friday: Werder must now put the Bayern game out of their minds and get ready for Düsseldorf this Friday. The Green-Whites face the Bundesliga’s bottom side at 20:30 CET. “If we want to get into Europe, we have to win against Düsseldorf,” said Niklas Moisander on Sunday. The defender won’t be involved in the game after being sent off against Bayern. His central defensive partner, Milos Veljkovic, will also miss the game with a muscle strain. However, Moisander is optimistic ahead of the match: “Sebastian Langkamp and Marco Friedl have turned up for us in the past and I think it’ll be the same on Friday.”
