In the aftermath to the incident, Werder’s number 30 admitted he felt “a little uneasy and therefore the substitution was the right decision.” Fortunately, the pains suffered in the collision are now gone. The Dutchman is also back in contention to potentially play in Saturday’s home clash against Borussia Dortmund (18:30 CEST). “I’m returning to full training on Tuesday. I may need to miss one or two tackles but otherwise, everything is okay,” says Klaassen.
As he explained in the mixed zone on Tuesday, the Green-Whites midfielder is aware of how important Saturday’s clash is against second placed BVB in the race for Europe. “Three points from our remaining matches won’t be enough for us to hit our season targets. Consequently, we have to win at least two of the three matches. The Dortmund match will be a tough game but we are all excited for the match and want to secure victory,” says the 26 year-old.
The Werder midfielder still isn’t looking at the current Bundesliga table to see how rivals are faring in the race for Europe. “We cannot look at the table every week. It doesn’t matter if you are in the European places or just below them. We have three exciting matches remaining which we want to win.” Davy Klaassen wants to start a winning streak to end the season on Saturday in the Weser-Stadion.
