The small country from the Balkans today made history, by recording their biggest ever win; an away win in the Nations League. The Kosovo national team convincingly beat Malta 5-0 as they took control of Group 3 in League D. Milot Rashica started the game and claimed two assists, before scoring his second ever international goal. The group stages will end when Azerbaijan take on the Faroe Islands (20/11/2018) in an all-important game. Rashica and co. are unbeaten in the Nations League so far, with three wins and two draws.

Milos Veljkovic and the rest of the Serbian team have come first in their group, thus earning promotion to League B in the Nations League. In Group 4 of League C, the team of former Werder player Mladen Krstajic beat Montenegro 2-1. Once again, Veljkovic was given a start for his country. For the sixth time in a row, the Werder central defender played the full 90 minutes and helped the Serbs to their victory. The Eastern European side are now unbeaten in five, meaning they have 11 points and sit in first place at the top of the table.

It’s all still to play for. Sweden can still be group leaders before the last Matchday in their Nations League group. In an important match-up, the Scandinavians, including Werder left-back Ludwig Augustinsson, beat Turkey 1-0, relegating Turkey from League B and putting Sweden into second, with three points after four games. In order to secure pole position, the Swedish team needs to win their next fixture in the Nations League against Russia, as Russia have three more points than them and a better goal difference by three goals.

All good things come to an end. Japan’s winning streak after the World Cup in Russia was put to an end on Friday. After three wins in a row, the Samurai Blues drew 1-1 in a friendly against Venezuela. Yuya Osako got his 36th international cap for Japan in Oita, appearing as the only attacking player in their starting XI.

Eggestein comes prepared

Germany U21s did well against the Netherlands on Friday. In a prestigious match-up, Germany beat rivals Holland 3-0. Maximilian Eggestein was on the bench for the majority of the game but made an appearance in the 69th minute, setting up the third goal for the German outfit.
