Martin Harnik: “They sat deep, they were aggressive, and they managed to equalise. We found the answers after that, though. It was an advantage playing the game in Lübeck, too. It was like a home game for us."
Frank Baumann: "It was quite a normal cup tie. It was separate from the game last Sunday. It was clear that we had to go into the game knowing that we were the better team. We did that well."
Florian Kohfeldt: "A difficult game but we got a commanding victory. They were well-organised, it wasn't easy. We were focused and we did what we came here to do."
Davy Klaassen on his penalty: “I told Kainzi that I’d take it and I put it away.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “We didn’t need a reaction after Sunday. Despite the loss, there was no reason to start panicking. It was a great atmosphere today and now we turn our attention towards Mainz. We want to have 20 points on the board after the game.”
Frank Baumann: “We had a lot of different goalscorers again today. It’s not easy for the boss to decide who has to sit on the bench.”
Frank Baumann: “Davy showed that he can always play to the same high level. His performance levels don’t change, no matter who he’s playing.”
Davy Klaassen: “It was a great honour to be captain tonight, but it didn't have any impact on how I went about things. I know my role in the dressing room."
