As Fin Bartels continues to work hard on the pitch in search of a return to full fitness, the 31 year old has been able to enjoy an evening with his Werder teammates at the Bremen Freimarkt festival. “A carousel ride before seeing the doctor is part of the routine for me,” said Bartels in an interview with WERDER.de. For Bartels, the Green-Whites trip to the festival is a welcome break from the tough rehabilitation process.
Bartels is still a couple of steps away from making his comeback to squad training. Occasionally, his body is not able to withstand the heavy strain of training according to the Kiel born attacker, speaking in front of the Hansezelt tent at the Freimarkt. However, there is upwards progress and Bartels will continue to work hard on Saturday ahead of a potential future comeback. “Consequently, I will only be able to follow the away match from home,” laughs Bartels.
Apart from that, Bartels is pleased that he is able to complete his rehabilitation at the Weser-Stadion. “I see my teammates constantly running up and down the hallway. You realise that there is a really good atmosphere at the club,” reports Bartels. Nevertheless, “we are concentrated and don’t want to let our heads drop. We are showing a lot of desire at present. Things are going great for us at the moment. The challenge now is to continue to work hard just like the rest of the squad have done to this point this season.
The Werder attacker, who has missed the last ten months with injury, was able to enjoy the away clash with Schalke 04 from the comfort of his own sofa. He was “very comfortable” watching te match and enjoyed what he saw. “We didn’t allow ourselves to get frustrated and we kept our cool. Jusr after we scored, we approached the rest of the match and dominated with a couple of exceptions. In my opinion, we fully deserved to win. I think we have continued to improve over the last few weeks.”
