In addition to naming Max Kruse the new Werder captain, head coach Florian Kohfeldt has also decided on his senior players committee. Niklas Moisander, Philipp Bargfrede, Sebastian Langkamp, Maximilian Eggestein, Martin Harnik, Davy Klaassen and newly-appointed captain Max Kruse make up the team.

Experienced defender Niklas Moisander will take on the role of vice-captain. New signing Davy Klaassen was also part of the senior players committee at Ajax, but getting a similar role at Werder came as a surprise. “It’s not every day that you’re given so much trust so soon, but I’m pleased and I understand the responsibility of the role. I’ll use my experience for the benefit of the team,” the Netherlands international told WERDER.DE.

Maximilian Eggestein, who came through the youth ranks at Werder, is looking forward to a new challenge personally. “I want to take on more responsibility and I’m pleased that I’ve been given the opportunity to contribute,” explained Eggestein.
