Werder bagged a point in Berlin with a last-minute goal from Claudio Pizarro. “It’s a lucky result for us, but we showed our spirit and we’re happy that we were able to take a point,” said Sebastian Langkamp after the game.
Florian Kohfeldt: “It definitely wasn’t a great performance today. We didn’t play our game in the first half and we let them counter attack for their goal. In the second half, we had too few chances for the amount of possession we had. I’m glad that we were able to take a point.”
Max Kruse: “It’s a lucky result for us. We have to respect Hertha, because they put in a good performance. We didn’t play how we can especially in the first half. But we showed our spirit and the equaliser was a release.”
Sebastian Langkamp: “Hertha were very tough today and they played very physically. We created too few chances for ourselves, but we didn’t stop. The point is a testament to our spirit and it’s very important for us in terms of the table.”
Claudio Pizarro: “We didn’t play how we planned to. Hertha made it very difficult for us. We were also a bit naive with certain things. In the end we’re happy to take a point home from Berlin though.”
Claudio Pizarro: “I haven’t scored a goal like it in my career. I did it with my experience (laughs). I’m proud that I’ve achieved the record. I always want to score and help the team.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “Words fail me with Claudio. The guy is just ridiculous. I’m very pleased for him and he’s shown again that he’s a world-class player. I’m very glad to have him in my team.”
Sebastian Langkamp: “No words. I’m very glad for him. Claudio is a very important player for us. He comes into the game in situations like that and uses all of his experience.”
