As the training camp comes to an end, Frank Baumann took another round of questions from the media. Werder’s sporting director spoke highly of the location and about the potential for the club’s continued summer romances with this charming Austrian town.

Frank Baumann on...

... The return of World Cup players to training: “Milos Veljkovic is already back in Bremen. He has completed his performance tests and medical there with Axel Dörrfuß, who left Zillertal early. Milos will rejoin training at some point this week. Yuya Osako and Ludwig Augustinsson will return soon, hopefully in time for the next training camp in Grassau.”

... Jaroslav Drobny’s recovery: “Drobo is back in fitness training. It will be at least ten days until he’s match fit again.”

... The injury to Aron Johannsson: “At the minute, we’re waiting for the diagnosis. We’re currently getting a second opinion from a doctor that knows Aron well. Aron’s in Bremen but is in contact with the doctor, who's based in Munich. We reckon we’ll get a full diagnosis at some point beginning to middle of next week.”

... The imminent transfer of Lennart Thy: “The move is still not official yet. A couple of signatures are missing. The contract has already been negotiated, but not yet signed. Lennart has been in Turkey for the last few days, he’s joined up with the squad and passed his medical. I would say that everything will be confirmed in the next few hours. We wish him all the very best. I believe he can fashion out a path and score goals aplenty in Turkey. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out for him at Werder. That’s mainly due to a strong field of competition up front at the moment.”

... Future training camps in Zillertal: “We still have one year left on our contract with the tourism board and can really see ourselves spending many a summer to come in Zillertal. The first talks on the matter have been held. Both parties have indicated interest for a continued partnership."
