Right-back Robert Bauer will leave SV Werder with immediate effect to join up with 1. FC Nürnberg  for the coming season on loan. Nürnberg will have the option to sign him permanently at the end of the loan. Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann confirmed the news on Thursday morning.

“Robert made his desire to move elsewhere to us clear. We’ve allowed him to do that by enabling this move to 1. FC Nürnberg. We hope that he’ll get regular game time at Nürnberg and we wish him all the best,” says Baumann.

Robert Baumann moved in the summer of 2016 from FC Ingolstadt to the Weser. The 23-year-old has made 43 Bundesliga appearances since then (one goal), as well as playing three times in the DFB-Pokal. Bauer played in 27 league games in his first season with the Green-Whites, but he was only called upon sporadically throughout this past season.
