SV Werder Bremen will have to make do without Philipp Bargfrede for the final match of the season and parts of the off season, after the midfielder underwent surgery on his right knee in Augsburg at the beginning of the week.
“Philipp had some minor damage in his knee, but an operation was necessary to allow him to continue his career at this level. He will return to Bremen in the coming days and begin a rehabilitation program which will last several months,” explained sporting director Frank Baumann.
Looking ahead, Bargrede is feeling good. “The operation went well and I’m felling good – I want to begin the rehab process in order to be able to get back on the pitch as soon as possible next season.”
