Werder will meet a second Bundesliga opponent in their second and final match at the 2017 Telekom Cup on Saturday 15/07/17. FC Bayern München and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will contest the other semi-final. If Alexander Nouri's men beat Borussia Mönchengladbach in their semi-final, then they will meet either TSG or the record German champions in the final at 17:45 CEST. Should the Green-Whites lose to Gladbach, then they will face the loser of the other match in the third place play-off at 16:30 CEST. Either way, Werder can look forward to a top day of football against some high quality opponents.

Did you know that...

… Werder could come up against a former Green-White? Florian Grillitsch could well be representing Hoffenheim on Saturday. The Austrian joined TSG from Werder earlier this summer. He played 54 Bundesliga games for Werder, scoring four goals. The Werder fans won't have to wait long for a competitive meeting with Hoffenheim, as the two sides will meet on the opening weekend of the new Bundesliga season.

… Werder can extend a small run if they meet Bayern at the Telekom Cup? The Green-Whites defeated Bayern Munich on penalties at the 2012 Telekom Cup. Back then, the 'Liga Total Cup' as it was known consisted of matches lasting 30 minutes per half. The match had ended 2-2 with Nils Petersen and Niclas Füllkrug scoring for Werder. Füllkrug, Mehmet Ekici, Lukas Schmitz and Kevin de Bruyne all converted from the spot to hand Werder victory.

… Alexander Nouri received a holiday invitation from Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann? At the press conference after matchday 33 of last season, Nagelsmann jokingly offered to take Nouri on holiday if Werder beat Borussia Dortmund in their final game of the season, as that would've secured Hoffenheim an automatic place in the group stage of next season's Champions League. This didn't come to fruition, of course, and Nouri later admitted to WERDER.TV that he'd rather go on holiday with his family.

...a 22-year-old could be replacing a 35-year-old at FC Bayern? Corentin Tolisso joined Bayern Munich from Olympique Lyon a few weeks ago. The talented young French star is set to replace Xabi Alonso, who retired from football at the end of last season, in defensive midfield for the Bavarians. Bayern have also recently brought in James Rodriquez on loan from Real Madrid. Three more signings which Bayern have made this summer include Serge Gnabry, as well as Niklas Süle and Sebastian Rudy from Hoffenheim.
