Frank Baumann is delighted that the central defender has shown his clear commitment to SV Werder. “Milos has developed tremendously over the last year and a half. He is only 22 years old yet has become a firm feature in the team, which demonstrates his enormous potential. We are glad to be travelling a common path”, said Werder's sporting director.
After consistently good performances for Werder, Veljkovic has been selected for Serbia’s World Cup squad, for whom he made his debut last November. “I have made huge strides since being at the club. I want to continue this way and keep performing well. I’m really looking forward to the future with Werder”, said Veljkovic.
Born in Basel, Milos moved to Tottenham Hotspur’s youth team aged 15, from where he transferred to SV Werder Bremen in the winter of 2016. After appearing and impressing for the U23 side, Veljkovic made the leap into the Bundesliga squad the following season. The central defender, who was an U19 European Champion and U20 World Champion with Serbia, has made 59 Bundesliga and five DFB-Pokal appearances for SVW, scoring two goals.
