Full-back Ulisses Garcia is leaving SV Werder Bremen to join Swiss club Young Boys. The 22-year-old, who has been on loan to newly-promoted 1. FC Nuremberg since the latest winter break, is now returning to his home country. Sporting director Frank Baumann made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

"Unfortunately, Ulisses did not get the game time we hoped he would at Nuremberg. Given our options at left back now in Ludwig Augustinsson, Marco Friedl and Thore Jacobsen, it would be very difficult for him to play regular football here next season as well, so this transfer was the best solution for all interested parties," said Frank Baumann.

Ulisses Garcia moved to the Weser from Grasshopper Club Zurich in July 2015 and made 19 Bundesliga appearances for the Green-Whites as well as four in the DFB Pokal. In January 2018, the Portugal-born 22-year-old went out on loan to Nuremberg, who have since gained promotion to the Bundesliga, but Ulisses only made two short appearances for the club in the Bundesliga 2.
