Alex Nouri has chosen his squad to travel to Schnevrdingen for Werder’s pre-season training camp. The Green-Whites will take 24 outfield players and 3 goalkeepers to prepare for the Bundesliga season. Izet Hajrovic returns after his knee injury. “He’s made a lot of progress and he’ll be able to take part in all the sessions. We are looking forward to seeing him get involved again,” said Nouri. Zlatko Junuzovic and Jesper Verlaat will also be with the squad. “The medics have said both should be okay to train on Tuesday again.”

Verlaat however won’t be the youngest in the team, as under-19 star Julian Rieckmann will also make the journey. Under-23 players Leon Jensen and Dominik Volkmer have been included too.

There will however be absentees in Schneverdingen - Niklas Moisander and Ousman Manneh. “We’re hoping to have a decision with Ous in the next few days as to a loan move, so he will stay here in Bremen,” explained Nouri.

The trip to Schneverdingen began early on Monday morning, with a 7.30am start leading to a late-ish arrival and the players do not yet know what is planned. “We have a team event planned for tomorrow and I am looking forward to see how that will go,” said Nouri.

“We are going to be treated well by some lovely guests in a fantastic environment. We are going to enjoy the peace and quiet in the hotel and we can focus on saving energy and giving everything in the training sessions. It’s barely 50 steps to the first training pitch, and just 70 to the second one, said Nouri. The Werder manager is definitely looking forward to the week ahead.

The following 27 players will make the journey to Werder’s training camp: Jiri Pavlenka, Michael Zetterer, Jaroslav Drobny - Luca Caldirola, Robert Bauer, Ludwig Augustinsson, Thomas Delaney, Florian Kainz, Jerome Gondorf, Aron Johannsson, Max Kruse, Milos Veljkovic, Izet Hajrovic, Zlatko Junuzovic, Yuning Zhang, Ulisses Garcia, Fin Bartels, Theodor Gebre Selassie, Johannes Eggestein, Lamine Sané, Jesper Verlaat, Niklas Schmidt, Maximilian Eggestein, Philipp Bargfrede, Leon Jensen, Dominik Volkmer und Julian Rieckmann.
