Sad news for Aron Jóhannsson: The American national player will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle problem and so will not be available for Werder’s remaining two games against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Mainz 05. This injury is the same as that which kept him out for Werder’s last game against Borussia Dortmund.

While Jóhannsson continues his rehabilitation, his teammates start the new training week on Wednesday, preparing themselves for the tough last home match against Leverkusen. Max Kruse, Ludwig Augustinsson and Milos Veljkovic all completed individual sessions on Wednesday morning, so too did Niklas Moisander, although when he will make his comeback is not yet clear.

The other Green-Whites all completed a session on Wednesday afternoon in the Weserstadion, as head coach Kohfeldt took the team for their first session in preparation for Saturday’s game. The boys will next train on Thursday afternoon behind closed door and then again on Friday afternoon.
