Summary: Despite the loss, SV Werder’s performance earned the plaudits deservedly today. Florian Kohfeldt’s side took the game to the favourites in the first half. After Gondorf’s goal to give Werder the lead, they did not sit back. FC Bayern could not get through on the floor so instead resorted to a lofted ball for the equaliser. Werder continued to play well in the second half and showed character to come back after Lewandowski scored to make it 2-1. Towards the end, Werder seemed to tire but they didn’t give up. FC Bayern’s class showed but Werder can take lots of positives from the performance into next weekend.
