Josh Sargent made his senior debut for the USA overnight on Tuesday, and capped it with a goal. Werder’s young striker scored the USMNT’s second in their 3-0 win over Bolivia.

Sargent pounced on an error from Bolivia’s goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra in the 52nd minute, as he intercepted an errant throw before spinning and slotting the ball home. Sargent, who also started the game, was then subbed off ten minutes later.

The goal means Sargent is the fifth youngest goalscorer in the history of the US Men’s National Team. He was also the fourth youngest for a short period of time, before teammate Tim Weah, who is two years his younger, scored the USMNT’s third goal of the night. “It feels great that we managed to take this step together,” said Sargent after the game via TSN.
