Zlatko Junuzovic had to come off against Dortmund at the weekend due to muscular problems in his calf, however the Werder captain could be available for selection again on Wednesday for the match against Leverkusen. “We are hoping that Zlatko will be able to recover on time. He will train individually today instead of with the rest of the team and tomorrow we will see how he is getting on,” said Werder head coach Florian Kohfeldt at Monday’s press conference.
Whatever the decision, Junuzovic will travel with the rest of the team to Leverkusen. “We will decide whether he will be in the starting eleven on Wednesday. We are making the most of the time that we have. Zlatko is getting a lot of support from the medical staff,” continues Kohfeldt.
Lamine Sané is available for selection again after missing the Dortmund match due to illness. “Thankfully, Laminé has recovered from his illness,” explained Kohfeldt. The centre-back will start on Wednesday as long as nothing unexpected happens.
Kohfeldt will also be hoping that Aron Jóhannsson, Luca Caldirola and Yuning Zhang will be able to take part in the final pre-match training session on Tuesday.
