++ Zhang returns home: Yuning Zhang will take part in the 13th national China games in the coming days. Werder’s striker travelled to Beijing on Saturday and then on to Tianjin, where he will play for his home region of Zhejiang. The south-eastern province has made it to the semi-final of the national tournament for the first time in their history. Should Zhang and his teammates get through, they will go on to the final on Thursday. Afterwards, it’s back to Bremen for the youngster. “We let him go back to China as we know it’s an important event within his home country,” explained Werder’s sporting director, Frank Baumann. +++

++ Problem solved: Milos Veljkovic missed the friendly against Korona Kielce due to a calf injury, but now he is back to full fitness. The Green-White defender will be present when the Werder players begin their preparation for the Bundesliga tie with Hertha BSC on Tuesday. +++

++ Werder’s ‘men of the match’: Johannes Eggestein was voted man of the match after his performance in the Germany U21s 2-1 loss to Hungary. The younger of the two Eggestein brothers received 33.8 percent of the votes. The 19-year-old scored in his first game for Stefan Kuntz’s side, which was also the 700th goal ever scored by the Germany U21s. Maxi Eggestein finished second in the voting with 30.4 percent of the votes. +++

++ Green-Whites in the international break: Werder will again be represented on the international stage on Monday. First up is Thomas Delaney. Early in the evening (18:00 CEST), Werder’s vice captain will play against Armenia for Denmark, and a win will be their second in a row after beating Poland 4-0. After celebrating his 26th birthday yesterday, that would come as a nice late birthday present. Later on (20:45 CEST), Theodor Gebre Selassie and Jiri Pavlenka will pull on the Czech shirt to face Norway. After losing to Germany in their last game, they are now under pressure to win their next game. WERDER.DE wishes you all the best! +++

++ Watching the Eggesteins from the stands: Werder’s head coach Alexander Nouri will be a spectator for the Germany U21 game in Osnabrück on Tuesday. Both Eggestein brothers are in Stefan Kuntz’s squad for the match against Kosovo. +++
