+++ 242: SV Werder ‘keeper Jiri Pavlenka has now gone 242 minutes without being beaten. The Czech stopper kept a clean sheet against HSV on Saturday as well as against Freiburg on Matchday 6. The last player to score a goal against Pavlenka was Divock Origi in the 28th minute in the 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg. Pavlenka even set a Bundesliga-wide season record in the Nordderby. The 25-year-old saved seven direct shots, which is more than any other goalkeeper in the Bundesliga this season. Hamburger SV had 17 shots against the Green-Whites – the same shot total that SC Freiburg amounted against Werder the week before. But none of them found the back of the net. “Jiri had a brilliant game once again. He’s really important for us and was solid for the second week running,” Alexander Nouri said, full of praise for the Czech ‘keeper’s performance. +++

+++ Welcome back, playmaker: The Werder players were downcast and disappointed after the final whistle blew at the end of the Nordderby, but there was a silver lining to the 0-0 draw against HSV for all Green-Whites. Werder captain Zlatko Junuzovic made his comeback and straight from the off, he reinvigorated his team’s attacking play. His 87 per cent passing accuracy and the classy way in which he set up a big Werder chance for Fin Bartels showed how valuable the Austrian is for the Green-Whites. After the game, the 30-year-old put ice on the Achilles tendon that had put him out for so long but it was just a “precautionary measure” as he explained afterwards. The good news is that Junuzovic is not on international duty. He will recover in Bremen and hopefully he will be fit to start against Mönchengladbach. +++

+++ Calm down, Zetti! : Zero minutes in the Bundesliga, but two yellow cards. This possibly record-breaking  stat belongs to Werder’s number two goalkeeper Michael Zetterer. In December 2015, the stopper was booked by referee Wolfgang Stark in a game against Eintracht Frankfurt. On Saturday, the man in charge, Deniz Aytekin, thought ‘Zetti’ was being too aggressive from the bench and showed him a yellow card. After the game, Zetterer joked about the incident, saying: “It just shows that I’m always part of the action.” +++

+++ Daddy Theo:“Gaffer, you’re going to have to do without me this week, I’m becoming a dad for the second time.” That’s how the phone call between Theodor Gebre Selassie and the Czech national team’s head coach might have sounded, with the Green-White number 23 and his wife Leona due to become parents for the second time. Their son Noe can look forward to having a new baby brother to play with. Everyone at Werder wishes Theo and Leona all the best and hopes that it all goes smoothly. +++
