Adapt and overcome: Niklas Moisander will not be in the starting XI to face Hannover on Friday for the first time in six matchdays. The Finn has been a staple in the Werder defence since recovering from his muscle strain in September, but will not be able to play against Hannover due to a yellow-card suspension. “We can deal with his absence as we have a strong defence, but we can’t replace his build-up play and leadership qualities,” explains Florian Kohfeldt. Who exactly will be called up to stand in for Moisander in the HDI-Arena is unknown according to the head coach. Marco Friedl, Sebastian Langkamp and Luca Caldirola are candidates for the task. Kohfeldt did not rule out a change in formation. “We don’t want to reveal too much,” grins the head coach.
