++ Invaluable: It wasn’t just his goal that proved Thomas Delaney can have a big impact on a game. The vice captain didn’t shy away from any tackles either. In fact, with 21 successful challenges to his name, Delaney had the most of all players on the pitch. The Denmark international also had the most shots of any player, and he forced Hertha’s Rune Jarstein to make a save five times. He was unlucky to only score once. +++

++Away goalscorer: Thomas Delaney has long been an indispensable part of the Green-Whites. He shies away from no challenges, is a threat in front of goal, and represents the team as vice captain with class. Incidentally, he’s scored all five of his goals for Werder away from home. So Thomas, you know what to do next weekend against Schalke. +++

++ Back in Bremen: Yuning Zhang is back from his home country. On Monday morning, the China international rejoined the squad for regenerative training. Last week, he played for his home province Zhejiang against Shanghai in the final of the Chinese National Games. Unfortunately however, him and his teammates fell in a penalty shootout. +++

++ Debutant: 10 days after arriving at Werder, Ishak Belfodil made his first appearance against Hertha BSC. After coming on in the 86th minute at the Olympiastadion the attacker said that “it was a great feeling to play for this team for the first time. It was good to get a point, although we did enough to deserved all three.” +++

++ Not the only debutant: It wasn’t just Ishak Belfodil who made their debut on Sunday evening in Berlin, as Bibiana Steinhaus also officiated her first ever game in the Bundesliga. Steinhaus has been a referee in the lower divisions since 1999, and has been very successful in her endeavours. In a recent interview with Kicker magazine, the part-time policewoman said that “I’m happy that it happened. I hope that it will now be the norm to see a woman referee a top flight game.” +++

++ Werder legend up close: Werder fans have another chance to meet a Green-White legend in the upcoming home game against Schalke. Max Lorenz, who was part of the Werder side that won the Bundesliga in 1965, will be able to meet fans at the game. +++
