Max Kruse is finally back on the training pitch! It’s the first time that Werder’s number 10 has been in action since he suffered a shoulder injury five weeks ago.
Alexander Nouri still preaches patience despite the positive signs that Kruse is showing in his recovery: “A check-up at the beginning of the week showed that he was coming along well. Max has been working really hard in individual drills to get to this point. A return to team training was the natural next step. We’re still going to wait and see how he feels though, and ultimately get the decision from the medical staff as to whether he’s ready for selection again.”
Werder travelled with a squad of 22 to Cologne on Friday, and will be training intensively ahead of the clash on Sunday with 1. FC Köln. The training session on Friday will be followed by one final session tomorrow, before Alexander Nouri decides on which 18 players will make up his final squad.
