SV Werder Bremen will play a friendly during the first international break, which comes around after the first home game of the season against Bayern Munich, to make the most of the lack of competitive action.  The Green-Whites will take on Polish premier division side Korona Kielce on the 1st September. Kick off for the match, which will take place at the Delmenhorst Stadium, is at 6:30 (CEST).

Frank Baumann, Werder’s sporting director, thinks the friendly will be very useful: “It is very important to keep the rhythm of the season going in an international break. It also means players who have not had much playing time can have a chance to play and impress the head coach in competitive conditions”. The green-whites do in fact already have experience of playing against the team currently in 8th place in the Polish Ekstraklasa; the Werder U23 side were defeated by Kielce 4-2 in their preparation for the 3. Liga season.
