Niklas Moisander, the Eggestein brothers and Ulisses Garcia all also played in qualifiers on Friday evening. For the Werder players, the night ended with one win, one draw and one loss. The Germany U21s got the win, crusing past Azerbaijan 6-1. Maximilian Eggestein played the final 20 minutes whilst Johannes didn’t get any game time. Niklas Moisander and Finland drew 1-1 against Croatia with Moisander playing the full 90 minutes. Meanwhile the loss was recorded by the Switzerland U21s against Romania. Ulisses Garcia played the whole game as his side lost 2-0 in the European qualifier.
There was also Werder interest in the Saturday international matches, with both good news and bad news for the Green-White internationals. Ludwig Augustinsson featured for the whole 90 as Sweden beat Luxembourg 8-0 in front of a record 50,000 fans in Solna. Ishak Belfodil also played the full 90 minutes but his country went down 2-0 to Cameroon. Izet Hajrovic and Bosnia went down 4-3 to Belgium in Sarajevo, with Hajrovic being subbed on in the 71st minute.
