Berlin is certainly worth a visit. And for those who will be following the Green-White’s trip to the capital on Sunday, whether that be in the stadium or on TV, here are five facts on the upcoming encounter against the Blue-Whites.

Century-best opponents: In the current century, Werder have won more against Hertha than against any other opponent. The current head-to-head looks like this: 19 wins, eight losses and four draws. A record which should give all Green-White fans hope for Sunday.

Opening goal: SVW only managed 14 shots on goal from their first two games of the season, but that doesn’t mean Werder fans should expect more of the same on Sunday. In the last 18 clashes between these two sides, the Green-Whites have only failed to score once. On that occasion, Werder suffered a 1-0 home loss (03/03/2012).

Fond memories: Head coach Alexander Nouri should have particularly good memories of his last visit to Berlin’s Olympiastadion, as it was where he earned his first away win as Werder boss. Max Kruse scored the winner that day, as the Green-Whites returned to Bremen with a 1-0 win.

Omen: The “Old Lady” are the team against which Werder celebrated their last Bundesliga win. Goals from Max Kruse and Fin Bartels led the Green-Whites to a 2-0 home victory on the 31st matchday of the last campaign. All Green-Whites will be hoping they'll be celebrating the first points of the campaign come Sunday evening.

Sunday form: This match against Hertha BSC will give the Green-Whites the chance to finally get their form in Sunday games back on track, as Werder lost five of their six Sunday matches in the 2016/17 season. However, one of the most important games of the season was indeed won on a Sunday – the Nordderby against Hamburger SV. Max Kruse and Florian Kainz got on the scoresheet that day in a 2-1 victory.
