Leon Guwara parts ways with SV Werder Bremen this summer. The 21-year-old, currently on loan at FC Kaiserslautern, will not be returning to the Green-Whites’ squad. Instead, he moves on to FC Utrecht.

“Leon has had a great deal of first-team experience at Kaiserslautern and has developed nicely. Considering we’re pretty well-staffed in the left-back department, a permanent transfer is the best option for all parties. We wish Leon all the best for his future career” said sporting director, Frank Baumann.

Leon Guwara was signed from FC Köln’s youth team in 2014. As well as a run-out for the first team in the Bundesliga, he made his debut for Werder U23 in the third division on 18th May 2014. In the 2016/17 season, the fullback was loaned out to SV Darmstadt 98 where he made 17 Bundesliga appearances.
