Following the conclusion of the negotiations, Marco Bode had this to say: “Klaus Filbry has done some excellent work in recent years and managed to navigate through a tough time for the club alongside his colleagues at SV Werder. We’ve held intensive talks over the direction in which we want to take SV Werder Bremen, and we’re convinced that Klaus Filbry will take us where we want to be in the future. He’s a key figure when it comes to the financial side of things and the challenges that Werder faces in this regard. It won’t be easy, and because of that it’s important that we stick together and maintain some form of continuity.”
Filbry, who has been a part of Werder’s board as of 2010, and has been the incumbent Chairman since 2012, is pleased with the faith displayed in him: “I am happy to continue working with everybody on the board and all within the organisation. We have to tackle the challenges ahead of us head-on. We have developed a clear strategy to be implemented in every department and we have a strong team of colleagues, who are motivated to further develop Werder as a club, to help us do that. I’m looking forward to the next few years.”
Filbry is responsible for Werder’s finances, marketing, and management. The Münster born 50-year-old has been a committee member of the DFL as of June 2015. The business graduate was formerly employed by adidas, and was most recently their Vice President of Global Football Sports Marketing.
