Double boost for the U23s! Jesper Verlaat and Johannes Eggestein will help the third division side with their midweek fixture at home to Karlsruher SC on Wednesday 02/08/17 (19:00 CEST). Head coach Florian Kohfeldt will have the pair of Werder first teamers at his disposal and it will be a good opportunity for the duo to get some more minutes in their legs at a high level ahead of the new season.
"I'm looking forward to tomorrow evening and playing with the boys. I know the U23s and the game against Karlsruhe will be a good test and a way of gaining some self-confidence. I'll also be getting some more game time ahead of the new season which is important for my development. In my eyes, matches with the U23s are equal to first team training when it comes to practice," said the centre-back Verlaat. Both will train with the U23s on Tuesday afternoon.
