Florian Kohfeldt will continue in his post as head coach at SV Werder Bremen. The Green-Whites committed to the future of the 35-year-old with a long-term contract until 30/06/2021. The contracts of the medical team, assistant coaches Tim Borowski and Thomas Horsch, goalkeeping coach Christian Vander, athletics specialists Axel Dörrfuß and Günter Stoxreiter as well as analysts Mario Baric and Pascal Schichtel were also extended.
“Florian has played an important role in the development of our team with his communicative, transparent and constructively critical style. He’s led the team out of a tricky situation with clear ideas and a recognisable philosophy. We’re convinced that, along with his coaching team, he will continue to lead the team on this positive path in the future,” explains Werder’s sporting director Frank Baumann.
Florian Kohfeldt is delighted by the trust placed in him: “I think this decision is a recognition of appreciation for my whole coaching team and I’m really placed that we’ll be able to continue working together at SV Werder Bremen, shaping its future over the coming years. I think I’ve developed and learned over the last few months and increased my belief in the potential this team has. We want everyone in the team and at the club to always look for the best within themselves at the highest level.”
Florian Kohfeldt took over as head coach at SV Werder Bremen at the end of October last year. Werder have picked up 31 points from 18 games under his control and are now 12th in the Bundesliga table. He gained experience in the Bundesliga as a part of Viktor Skripnik’s coaching team from 2014 to 2016 and took the U23s’ head coach post afterwards, leading the team to stay up in the third tier.
