Jerome Gondorf: “We fought hard today and put in a good performance. We were courageous and we didn’t sit back and invite the pressure even when Bayern piled people forward but the thing that counts at the end of the day is the points. The fact that we are standing here without any is bitter and so we can’t be satisfied. We conceded three goals from headers today and we didn’t defend those situations well as a team. That made it harder than it already was to get something away at Bayern.”
Max Kruse: “It doesn’t help to sit back against Bayern and hope that we can get chances up top. You have to be aggressive and up for it and press to win the ball back. We played well for most of the game but we weren’t good enough in the decisive moments. And that was ruthlessly punished by Bayern.”
Zlatko Junuzovic: “We’re very disappointed. There was more for the taking today. We had a clear plan and executed it well for most of the 90 minutes. We cause them problems and we believed we could get something from the game when we made it 2-2. But unfortunately we conceded really quickly after that.”
Robert Bauer: “The coach kept on saying to us that we could get something from this game and he gave us confidence. We believed in that and you could see that on the pitch. It’s a shame that at the end of the day the performance wasn’t enough for even a point.”
Thomas Delaney: “I think that we played really courageously today and we did a good job. We had a few chances, not many but still more than most teams would here. Towards the end, Bayern’s brilliant individual class showed and that was the difference today.”
Florian Kohfeldt: “We found ways past Bayern Munich today and we carried out our plan really well which was impressive. But we need to be critical about the goals we conceded. We conceded four and there are reasons behind all of them. Bayern’s individual class made a difference but also our alertness was lacking. It was frustrating to concede the equaliser just before the break. It may have been crucial if we had held onto the lead going into half-time.”
