Defender Lamine Sané will not be part of the SV Werder Bremen first team until further notice.
After suffering from a cold earlier in the week, the 29-year-old took two days off from training without permission from the club. “Lamine didn’t behave in the professional manner that we expect of a Bundesliga player. We told him that in no uncertain terms and informed him that he will not be a part of the Bundesliga squad until further notice,” said Werder sporting director Frank Baumann, who only revealed the decision publicly after Saturday evening’s game. “We didn’t want to rock the boat ahead of such an important game against Hertha. We did inform the team of our decision on Friday though,” added Baumann.
“Given our current situation and with such an important game on the horizon, I have no time for a player who puts his own interests ahead of the team's success,” concluded Baumann. The club have given Sané permission to clear up his future.
