Germany lose, Sweden beat Mexico 3-0

Ludwig Augustinsson and Sweden are through to the last 16 of the World Cup! The left back opened the scoring for the Scandinavians in the 50th minute. The match went from 0-0 at half time to 3-0 by the final whistle. Meanwhile, the current World Champions Germany are now out of the tournament.

The game’s other goalscorers were captain Andrea Grandqvist with a penalty and Mexico’s Edson Alvarez, whose own goal put the game to bed. Sweden, who have finished top of their group, will face the runners up in Group E: one of Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia. The last 16 bout will take place next Tuesday, 3rd July, at 16:00 CEST in St. Petersburg.
