On Tuesday night, Thomas Delaney joined Ludwig Augustinsson and Milos Veljkovic as the third Green White to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia with his national side. Denmark came from behind in Dublin to win the second leg of their playoff against Ireland 5-1. Not as important for the country as a whole, but certainly a confidence boost was the Germany U20s’ international friendly win over England. Frank Kramer’s side won 2-1 in Zwickau thanks to a brace from Werder’s young Johannes Eggestein.

What a magical night it was in Dublin. Ireland’s early goal had Denmark truly shaken. The hosts pressed hard for a second, their passionate fans right behind them, but Denmark survived the siege and managed to sneak an all-important equaliser: Relief for Delaney and Co., who went on to take the lead soon after through Eriksen on the counterattack. Eriksen completed his hat-trick after the break before Bendtner rubbed salt in Irish wounds with Denmark’s fifth from the penalty spot. WERDER.DE sends its congratulations to Thomas Delaney.

Meanwhile, in Italy on Monday night, Sweden and Ludwig Augustinsson pulled off a shock, holding the Azzurri to a goalless draw at the San Siro, sending them through to the World Cup finals for the first time since 2006.

Elsewhere, Florian Kainz was in action for Austria as manager new Franco Foda’s side faced Uruguay in Vienna. Kainz started the game and played almost exactly one hour as he and  his team went on to win 2-1.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, our Green Whites were clearly in the mood for scoring. Johannes Eggestein led the Germany U20s to a 2-1 victory over England in Zwickau, scoring both of his side’s goals, while Ulisses Garcia got on the scoresheet for the Portugal U21s in their 2-1 defeat to Switzerland. Even earlier in the day, the Serbian national team were in action against South Korea: Milos Veljkovic came on in the 68th minute of his team’s draw in Uslan.
