Werder can confirm a friendly fixture ahead of their return to competitive action in January 2017. A week before the league clash with Borussia Dortmund (21.1.2017, 15:30 CET), SVW will face a tough friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig. The game against the Bundesliga 2. leaders will be played at the Eintracht-Stadion on the 14th January 2017 (15:30 CET).

“Braunschweig will provide just the right test, ahead of what will be a difficult start after the winter break. There have been a few games between the two sides in recent years and it is a nice tradition to be able to once again play against a side with a lot of quality,” explained sporting director, Frank Baumann.

The last encounter between SV Werder Bremen and Eintracht Braunschweig took place on the 13th November 2015. It was Braunschweig who ended up as winners on the day, beating Werder 2-0 at the Weser Stadion.
