There was a particular spotlight on 21-year-old Florian Grillitsch who replaced David Alaba at half-time for his Austria debut. Grillitsch played well alongside Werder teammate Zlatko Junuzovic until the 81st minute when the Werder vice-captain was substituted. Moisander played the full 90 minutes for Finland.
There was a second Werder meeting in Biel in Switzerland, where Ulisses Garcia met Thore Jacobsen and Ole Käuper. Garcia was on the winning side as Switzerland U20s beat their German counterparts 2-1.
Niklas Schmidt has another U19 international match under his belt. The German team qualified for the European Championship in Georgia with a 4-0 win over Slovakia. Schmidt didn’t feature in the game at the Frankfurter Volksbank-Stadion.
Thomas Delaney and Theodor Gebre Selassie were in action on Sunday. While Gebre Selassie was on the scoresheet in the Czech Republic’s 6-0, there were no goals as Delaney’s Norway drew 0-0 with Romania. Delaney played the full 90 minutes for Norway. Jaroslav Drobny remained on the bench for the Czech Republic, having been granted a late call-up.
