Werder are now ten matches unbeaten in the Bundesliga. There was no question as to who the man of the match was at the Audi Sportpark today. Max Kruse put in a magical performance against Ingolstadt, scoring four goals. The striker gave his thoughts on the performance after the match, “For me it was clearly deserved by the team. The only important thing today was that we won the game.” Head coach Alexander Nouri gave similar sentiments after the win, “We expected a difficult game today and therefore, I’m pleased that we got the win. In the end it was a good team performance.”  Sporting director Frank Baumann immediately placed the focus on the coming weeks: “The team should keep going and then we’ll see where we end up at the end of the season.”

Max Kruse: “We fought hard and gave a good team performance today. I think we really wanted to get back into the game today. The way that we’re performing together as a team at the moment is really good.”

Fin Bartels: “Today wasn’t a good performance by us. As a team, we always believe that we can win the game and at the moment, we have the necessary self-belief. With the momentum that we have at the moment, when it goes to 1-1 in the 81st minute, we try to win the game.”

Alexander Nouri: “We expected a difficult game and that’s what we got. Ingolstadt did well to force mistakes out of us, but we kept going, kept believing and gave a great team performance with everyone working for each other. Even when we felt that things were going against us today, we stuck together. This togetherness is distinguishing us at the moment.”

On the good run and reaching the European places:

Max Kruse: “We’re doing well at the moment by taking it one game at a time. We’re happy with how things are going at the moment. The success isn’t going to our heads. We work hard every day and don’t let any setbacks hinder us too much.” 

Fin Bartels: “We have the necessary self-belief at the moment. We have a mix of good team performances and good individual performances.  Now we have two exciting games ahead of us where we can really reward ourselves for the season. That’s really great!”

Alexander Nouri: “I won’t get presumptuous because I know how the season has gone. We will remain humble and take it one game at a time. If we finish in a position where we qualify for Europe, then that would be amazing!”   

Frank Baumann: “The players can dream at night about Europe, when they put in such a performance time after time. It’s important that we just concentrate on what we’re doing and keep doing. This obviously involves coming through difficult periods and keeping going. Then we’ll see where we end up.”

Max Kruse: “I’m happy with the four goals. The team and the whole club deserves it. When the team performance is good then it gives me the opportunity to improve my own performance. What’s around me affects how I perform. Whether I have to get the team something… we’ll have to wait and see what they say.” 

Fin Bartels: “Max is playing really well at the moment. To score four goals in one game is really unique. Hats off to him. He kept the winning run going for us today. Now he has to get something for the team!” 

Alexander Nouri: "Max has come a long way and worked very hard. We worked the situations well as a team and he kept his cool and finished them off. We don’t need to talk about his quality; everyone could see it on show today. Max is very ambitious and that rubs off on the whole team.”  

Frank Baumann: “Max never wanted to go abroad, rather he always wanted to prove himself here. He concentrates very hard on his performance and because of that, he’s doing really well.”
