The Green-Whites face a really tough challenge at the end of the Herzlake training camp. At 15:30 CEST on Saturday, SV Werder will face their last friendly opponents of pre-season at the Heinz-Dettmer-Stadion in Lohne, when they go up against FC Ingolstadt. The encounter with their Bundesliga rivals will be the final match in preparation for next season. For head coach Viktor Skripnik’s team, it is the third friendly in just six days. “We consciously opted for such a heavy workload, in order to be prepared for the intensive start of the Bundesliga,” says the Werder coach.

Just like Werder, Ingolstadt have their first competitive match of the season on Sunday, when they face third-division side Erzgebirge Aue in the first round of the DFB Cup. Their first Bundesliga match of the season comes one week later against Hamburger SV. The next encounter between Werder and Ingolstadt will take place on matchday 13. There are some similarities between the two clubs’ pre-seasons, as both clubs went up against Dynamo Dresden and Huddersfield Town. Ingolstadt’s friendly against Dresden ended 2-2 and they lost 1-0 in the encounter with the English second-division side.
