The countdown has begun! The Werder boys only have one week of training left before their first match of the new season, and it’s a double session! On Tuesday morning, Werder coach Viktor Skripnik had his players on the training pitch to prepare the team for their upcoming DFB Cup game against Sportfreunde Lotte (Sunday, 21st August at 15:30 CEST). In the afternoon they also trained publically. WERDER.DE sums up the main points the current personnel situation.

Just in time for the decisive week of pre-season, Florian Grillitsch and Aron Jóhannsson returned to training with the rest of the squad. New arrival Lamine Sané trained for the first time on Bremen soil after also appearing in the training camp in Herzlake, while key players Santiago García, Philipp Bargfrede and Claudio Pizarro followed individual programmes together with Justin Eilers indoors. Melvyn Lorenzen is currently training with the under 23s.
