A life without smartphones – for many, that would be unthinkable. For the Werder players, a mobile phone is a standard accompaniment on away trips, at the training ground or in everyday life. WERDER.DE takes a closer look at one particular players’ most useful item. What was the last thing he used it for? What App was on he just on? And who did he last message? We take a look at Thomas Delaney and his smartphone in “The last time”. WERDER.DE takes a closer look at the Werder players and their devices. What they last used their mobile for, which App they use most and who they sent their last text message to. ‘My last time’ gives an insight into one of the most private and prized possessions – the smartphone. Today we talk to Denmark international Thomas Delaney.

# My last phone call... was to a number for the club but who was it that I called yesterday? (thinking) I actually can’t think of who it was at the moment but I had telephoned my girlfriend before that. I watched the match on Saturday without her and because the internet was slow, she always knew when the goals had gone in before I did and texted me to let me know. Then I rang her to tell her to stop telling me what was going on before I found out (laughs).

# My last text message... came from my provider. I’d used all of my data (laughs). But the last apart from that was from Jens Beulke, our rehabilitation coach. Jens sent me the schedule for today.

# My last email... I got that from a delivery company. I order something on the internet and it was a confirmation email. It’s not very interesting really. Other than that I don’t really contact people over email. I only used it for certain issues.

# My last photo... I’ve got a lot of photos on here from various WhatsApp groups (laughs). It is difficult to see which one was actually the last that I took but it is probably this one here of my dog, lying on the bed with a bottle of Cappy.

# My last song... that was by ‘Jamie XX – I Know There’s Gonna Be!’ I listen to a fair amount in the car and when I have to train along due to injury as I have been doing recently. I have loads of playlists but my favourite genres are R’n’B and Hip Hop.

I like Reddit

# My last like on Instagram... was for Max Kruse on his picture after the win in Ingolstadt on Saturday.

# My last post on Instagram... was of a FIFA-Ultimate-Team packet that I got after the match in Freiburg. I don’t post a lot but I like browsing on Instagram to see what my friends are up to.

# The App I most recently went on... was Twitter. I mostly use it for news, particularly football related. I follow Copenhagen, Werder and a lot of former and current players. But I also follow major news channels like BBC Sport.

# The last game I played on my phone... I don’t play on it a lot but if I do then it’s definitely Sudoku. We always have newspapers we can take in the physio room and when somebody else is doing one in the paper, then I have to use my phone to do it (laughs).

# The last time that I turned off my phone out of choice... It never occurs to me to do that. If I don’t want to be bothered, then I put it to the side and in the night I put in on silent.

# My favourite app... I like Reddit but I really can’t think how to describe this app. It’s sort of a website or a forum, everything is divided into different sections and you can follow these categories. When I’m board, I go on Reddit.

# The last WhatsApp group I wrote in... I congratulated my old teammates yesterday on their win against Midtjylland. I then also messaged the Bundesliga group for Werder as we were all thrilled after the win on Saturday and people were posting a lot of funny things.

# The feeling last time I forgot to take my phone with me... was a good one. I’m not a great fan of texting of phoning on my mobile. Since I don’t really like either, I actually find it quite nice when that happens, especially on holiday. It only feels odd when I know somebody needs to reach me for something.
