Werder Bremen were confident and clinical on Wednesday night as the Green-Whites strolled past VfB Oldenburg 6-0 in Rastede. Captain Claudio Pizarro got the ball rolling before half-time before Werder stretched their legs and the lead after the restart. Ousman Manneh and Aron Johannsson both grabbed a brace in the second period, while Santiago Garcia also added a header from a corner. The win was soured slightly by the loss of Justin Eilers to injury towards the end.
Eilers will not remember the game against Oldenburg well. The striker was injured in a tackle in the closing stages and had to come off after sustaining a sever bruise on his left ankle. A check up tomorrow should reveal the full extent of the injury.
