SV Werder Bremen won their final Dresden
Cup game against the hosts on Saturday afternoon. Viktor Skripnik’s men won the
shootout 4-3 after the game ended 1-1. Both goals came in the final 10 minutes,
with Stefan Kutschke (82’) grabbing the opener before Johannes Eggestein (87’)
netted a late leveller for the Green-Whites. Jaroslav Drobny kept out two
penalties in the shootout. “I’m pleased with how we defended today but there is
still space for improvement. It was tough to play two games so quickly – there
were some tired legs out there. We’re delighted to have come out on top,”
explained Skripnik.
