Santiago García has had to be patient whilst recovering from his injury. But on Thursday afternoon, the left-back rejoined the rest of the team in training for the first time since he picked up his thigh injury. The Argentinean took part in the warm-up programme as well as the training match.

It’s possible that García could make an appearance at the weekend against Wolfsburg. “I hope that I can be part of the squad again on Saturday,” said Santi optimistically as he is looking forward to being with the rest of the team on the pitch again.

A lot of his teammates weren’t there to welcome him back onto the pitch. Yesterday’s starting eleven went cycling today to recover from the match. Goal scorer Izet Hajrovic did not take part in training. He trained indoors individually with Aron Jóhannsson whilst Fin Bartels was training individually on the pitch. Niklas Schmidt and Johannes Eggestein also joined the first team on their bike ride after losing to Magdeburg with the U23s a few days earlier.
