Fortunately, Lamine Sané’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared. However, the tests carried out on Sunday morning did show that the centre-back has suffered a small tear in the LCL in his right knee. The injury came in Werder’s loss to SC Freiburg at the weekend.
“Fortunately, Lamine hasn’t suffered any big structural damage to his knee. We’ll now have to take it day by day and see how the knee responds to treatment but we hope he’ll be back in training as soon as possible,” commented head coach Alexander Nouri.
Sané picked up the injury in a challenge with Freiburg player Marc Torrejón and had to be substituted in the 42nd minute of the Green-Whites’ 3-1 loss to Freiburg. Milos Veljkovic was brought on in his place.
