Alexander Nouri has experienced some phenomenal days. The SV Werder manager is enjoying a private trip to trace back his family roots. Nouri and his father returned to their country of origin – Iran – last Sunday. The Buxtehuder-born 37-year-old is taking part in an IRIB TV programme called ‘Navad’, which is Iran’s most important show.

Upon arriving at the airport in Tehran, Nouri and his father went for dinner with delegates from the Iranian football association, as well as with well-known Iranian sports host Adel Ferdosipour. Nouri was well received as he made his way through the Iranian metropolis, around which roughly 14 million people live. An example of this would be the 40 metre long banner across the motorway which welcomed the SV Werder manager.

The trip to Iran is a very personal experience for Nouri: “I’m really pleased to have been invited here by the organisers of the programme, and they’ve given me the opportunity to catch up with a few private contacts too. It’s the first time I’ve returned since I came here in 2005, and I’ve already many a friendly encounter,” said Nouri.

In addition, Werder’s manager will watch the game between Iran and Uzbekistan. The programme, which is moderated by Ferdosipour, will deal with Iran’s international game, as well as SV Werder’s past season. The Green-Whites manager has an exciting evening to look forward to, saying: “I can’t wait for the atmosphere in the Arzadi Stadium and for the discussion with Adel Ferdosipour.”
