Nouri seemed to prefer to talk about his own team’s strengths rather than the question of whether RB Leipzig are the most difficult opponents yet. “The decisive factor will be what we do on the pitch. We have been working on various exercises during the week,” said Nouri.
Nouri’s influence over Werder Bremen was evident in the match against Bayer Leverkusen. The Werder players made life difficult for Leverkusen through a balance of attacking pressure and good defensive organisation. Nouri is aware of the praise he is receiving for his style of football. “We are at the beginning of the process. Every positive result will help us but of course we are going to have one or two setbacks. We are going to give it our all in the match against RB Leipzig. But at the end of the day, actions speak louder than words.”
