Bad news for SV Werder Bremen. Max Kruse suffered an injury to the lateral ligament of his left knee on Sunday in the DFB Cup match against Sportfreunde Lotte. The 28-year-old will not be available for the foreseeable future.

"Werder’s number 10 will travel to Munich on Tuesday to undergo a medical examination by Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Eichorn. “We will know more shortly. It is sad, however, that we will probably have to make do without a key player for a while. We hope that Max recovers quickly and until then we will support him as much as possible,” manager Viktor Skripnik told WERDER.DE.
