+++ Man of the Match: Max Kruse’s impressive performance against first-place Bayern Munich at the weekend didn’t go unnoticed. The attacker not only scored his third goal of the season, but also Werder's first goal against record champions Bayern since April 2014. It was a special goal, as Bremen’s No. 10 received the ball from Zlatko Junuzovic and showed composure and quick feet to evade David Alaba and slot the ball home with his right foot. The Green-White fans on Facebook rewarded his showing with the Volkwagen Man of the Match, and German television programme ARD-Sportschau also named him in their Team of the Week. Frank Baumann praised Kruse’s performance after the game: “He trained well, worked hard and earned his goal,” as the sporting director also described the strike to make it 2-1 as “terrifically taken”. +++

+++ García suspended: Santiago García won’t be available for next week’s game against FC Augsburg as the Argentinian picked up a yellow card in the 72nd minute against Bayern - his fifth of the season. He’s the first Green-White to receive such a suspension this campaign, but captain Clemens Fritz could be next as he currently has four. +++

+++ Hand in hand: At this weekend’s home game against FC Bayern, eleven refugee children walked out onto the pitch with the Green-Whites. Organisation REFUGIO Bremen’s initiative was made possible by Volkawagen, a long-time partner of SV Werder, and WERDER BEWEGT – LEBENSLANG. Nine boys and two girls between seven and ten with a number of different backgrounds experienced the unforgettable day. SV Werder Bremen have been supporting REFUGIO since 2012 and look forward to more successful initiatives like this one. +++
