+++ Energetic and dangerous in front of goal: Nobody was stopping Fin Bartels on Saturday. First, he nutmegged Matthias Ginter, before outrunning Sokratis and coolly slotting the ball past Roman Weidenfeller.  “It definitely wasn’t the worst goal I’ve ever scored,” said Bartels about his third goal in his last six games. Bartels covered the most ground on the pitch on Saturday, running a distance of 11.85km. Thomas Delaney was selected by Sportsschau for the ‘Bundesliga Team of the Week’ for his impressive debut performance.

Back in training: Sunday was a warm down day. After the tough 2-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund, the Green and White starting XI from Saturday went through a relaxed session in the weight room. Those who didn’t start against Dortmund were back out on the training pitch. Involved in that session was Zlatko Junuzovic, who played a small part in training at the end of last week and on Sunday took part in his first full training session with the squad.  The Austrian seems to have recovered from the calf strain he sustained ahead of the friendly against FC Brugge, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be available for this weekend's match against record champions Bayern Munich.

+++ Hungry but not impatient: Four months of waiting has come to an end. Florian Kainz made his second Bundesliga appearance against BVB. The Werder fans got to see the Austrian for ten minutes at the Weser Stadion. “I’m enjoy playing every minute I get on the pitch but first and foremost I was disappointed that we lost as a team,” said Kainz as he reflected on his home debut. Alexander Nouri rewarded the 24-year-old for his good work by bringing him on in the final stages of the game. “I’m getting closer and closer with the team. I’m getting good feedback and have noticed that training is going better and better. I hope that things will continue as positively as they have been,” added Kainz, who has “embraced” his first six months in Bremen and can cope with the role he has. “I’m hungry for more game time but I’m not impatient.”

+++Sternberg says ‘Szia’!: Janek Sternberg began his adventure in Hungary this weekend. Before the left back was presented as a Ferencvaros player on Saturday evening, he said farewell to Werder and the fans with an Instagram post, stating “many thanks for the fantastic time I have had in Bremen. It was an honour for me to play for your club.” He continued to give further thanks to Werder. WERDER.DE says “Syia, Serni!” to Sternberg, which in Hungarian translates as goodbye and hello! Good luck in Budapest!+++

+++Yatabaré on the losing side: Samabou Yatabaré and Mali face an uphill battle to qualify for the next round of the Africa Cup of Nations after losing 1-0 to Ghana in their second group match. Yatabaré was taken off at half time, as Mali pin their hopes on a him against Uganda on Wednesday evening to provide an outside chance of qualifying for the quarter finals, on the proviso that Egypt lose to Ghana, who have already qualified.+++
